If you've been starting to think about choosing an engagement ring, you know that it can become a bit overwhelming with all of the different varieties out there. Luckily, you've come to the right place -- here are our 5 tips for choosing an engagement ring you'll adore.
1. Narrow Down the Shapes
Narrowing down the shapes you enjoy will help you go into a jeweler feeling confident and ready to bypass styles you know you won't love right off the bat. Lumera has a great guide to different shapes, here, and we highly suggest you take a peek.
Pro Tip: Not sure of a shape or style? Try them on! What you thought you head over heels for you might not like on, and what you were "iffy" on may be "the one."
2. Establish A Budget
Establishing a budget should be one of the first things you do when you're preparing to purchase an engagement ring. This will allow you to be open with the jewelers so they can help you find the perfect ring at your price point.
3. Get Properly Sized
You may think you know your ring size, but it's always a good idea to get sized by a couple of different places to make sure your ring fits like a glove when put on your finger. You don't want it too loose to risk it falling off, but you also don't want it so tight it cuts of circulation.
4. Look at Carats
Deciding on a general carat range will help you also choose a setting that you enjoy. For example, maybe your chosen carat size doesn't look how you had anticipated on a halo style engagement ring, but looks magnificent on an Edwardian style ring.
5. Decide The Stone
For our last point, decide if you'd really like a diamond, or if Moissanite, Emerald, Sapphire or another gem are more your style. It's your engagement ring and only you know what you would love the most!
